As a NXGEN Engineer you will learn to apply your technical knowledge to solve a wide variety of engineering challenges. You will have the opportunity to work with our operational business and get hands on, practical experience of the equipment and techniques used to handle abnormal loads. We will work with you to build your knowledge and technical ability across a range of specialist areas, along with more traditional trades such as structural analysis and design.

Although based out of the UK, NXGEN Engineering operates globally, having completed projects in the United States, Mexico, The Netherlands, France, Germany, Norway, as well as the Far East and South America. As a member of the engineering team you will have the opportunity for international travel as part of the role.

Key responsibilities
As a NXGEN engineer you will learn to:

  • Produce engineering documents such as drawings, reports, calculations associated with the movement of abnormal loads
  • Mentor and manage other team members as required
  • Provide technical support to NXGEN Group and clients as required
  • Act as NXGEN’s technical representative to clients


Skills, qualifications and experience
Mandatory

  • Degree qualified naval architect, civil, structural or mechanical engineer
  • 2 years work experience in a relevant area

Desirable

  • Appropriate HSQE qualification
  • AP ticket holder

NXGEN is a rapidly growing business and we are looking for graduates who share our passion for engineering and problem solving and who are keen to work in an exciting and dynamic industry.

As a graduate engineer you will learn to apply your technical knowledge to solve a wide variety of engineering challenges. You will have the opportunity to work with our operational business and get hands on, practical experience of the equipment and techniques used to handle abnormal loads. We will work with you to build your knowledge and technical ability across a range of specialist areas along with more traditional trades such as structural analysis and design. You will learn to design and plan:

  • The transport of loads with Self Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs) as well as conventional axles. These specialist transporters are capable of supporting hundreds of tonnes per module
  • The movement of loads using a variety of skidding techniques including skid shoes, beams and launching plates
  • The use of jacking systems used to raise abnormal loads to heights in excess of 40m, weighing as much as 50,000Te
  • Plan crane lifts using cranes of all sizes. Cranes can be as small as a 10Te spider crane all the way up to 5000Te ringer cranes
  • Engineer bespoke heavy lift gantries for situations where an off the shelf system is not the right solution. These gantries employ a variety of lifting devices to enable them to lift and handle loads could not otherwise be moved
  • Develop bespoke combination systems employing all the above equipment in a single movement or project

Role: Crane Technician
Based: Liberty, Texas with travel
Full/Part-time: Full time
Position: Permanent

Overview

NXGEN is a rapidly growing business and our crane fleet is quickly expanding operations. We are now looking for a crane technician who shares our passion, to join our team and support our projects across Texas and the USA.

As a NXGEN crane technician, you will be based out of Liberty, Texas but be required to work across multiple sites supporting our crane operations. You will need to be capable of thoroughly planning and scheduling equipment maintenance across a range of cranes and be self sufficient in arranging replacement and stock parts. All maintenance activities are required to be recorded diligently, through our maintenance tracking software and applicants would be required to complete these without supervision.

The role would also include the supervision of crane assembly and disassembly operations and undergoing certain responsibilities associated with those activities. In addition to crane maintenance, any conventional axle or self-propelled modular transporter (SPMT) experience would be desirable.


Key responsibilities

  • Planning / scheduling equipment maintenance
  • Supervise crane assembly and disassembly
  • Arrange stock parts
  • Maintain records in maintenance tracking software
  • Support office activities (scheduling trucking, equipment schedule, etc)

 

Skills, qualifications and experience

Mandatory

  • Kobelco experience
  • Supervisory experience of assembly and disassembly of Kobelco crawler cranes
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role

Desirable

  • Conventional trailer and SPMT experience (maintenance / operation)
